AlliesFinServe #StockMarket #Bharat Telegram.me/AlliesFin's Post

Zerodha founder Nithin Kamath had to be hospitalised recently, after suffering a mild stroke.

He was just 45 years old, worked out often, ate well, and even had a six-pack.

As a doctor, it is alarming to see such cases becoming increasingly common in individuals between the ages of 18 and 55.

So, why is it that even healthy individuals are suffering?

Here are the possible causes of Nithin’s stroke, that you should monitor too:

1. Chronic stress:

High-stress environments are common in India, but elevated stress hormones like cortisol can damage blood vessels and contribute to inflammation, increasing stroke risk.

2. Sleep deprivation:

Consistent lack of sleep can disrupt normal hormonal balance and raise blood pressure, potentially affecting cardiovascular health and stroke risk.

3. Emotional trauma:

Nithin had recently lost his father, which he may not have processed completely before diving back into work. Sudden emotional shock or stress can also contribute to heart attacks.

4. Overtraining:

While exercise is generally beneficial, excessive workouts and pushing oneself beyond limits can strain the cardiovascular system, potentially increasing stroke risk.

5. Dehydration:

A lack of water thickens your blood and makes your blood vessels constrict, which can strain your heart over time.

Nithin’s stroke isn’t an isolated incident either — this can happen to anyone.

But recognising the symptoms and acting quickly can significantly improve the chances of a full recovery.

So remember the acronym “FAST” to detect the signs of stroke:

F: Face drooping
A: Arm weakness
S: Speech difficulty
T: Time to call 102

Please repost this to spread awareness, and potentially save the life of someone in your network.

*SEBI ON SMALL AND MIDCAP*

Many small-cap and mid-cap funds may restrict SIP and lumpsum investments.

They may also limit how much you can withdraw.

Reason for all this?

SEBI wants fund houses to stay alert amid crazy inflows to small-cap schemes.

What exactly has happened?

SEBI has acknowledged that there's froth building up in the mid and small-cap space.

So, it has asked all fund houses to develop policies in the next 21 days to protect investors.

Here are some proactive steps that SEBI has suggested.

1. MODERATE INFLOWS

SEBI has asked fund houses to limit inflows into their schemes.

There are many ways to do it.

Fund houses can cap how much you can invest through SIP or lumpsum.

They can also stop taking fresh inflows.

Depending on the size of a scheme, you will see different fund houses taking different approaches.

In the past, many fund houses have done it.

Examples include SBI Small Cap, Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip, etc.

2. REBALANCE PORTFOLIOS

SEBI has asked fund houses to “rebalance” their portfolios to ensure investors don’t see the ugly side of redemption pressure.

So, schemes may increase exposure to large-cap stocks and maintain higher cash to meet redemption requests.

3. PROTECT INVESTORS FROM EARLY REDEMPTIONS

In a market downturn, if too many investors start to redeem their investments, it may force fund managers to sell investments in distress.

And it can impact other investors.

So, SEBI wants fund houses to avoid such situations.

What can fund houses do?

They may limit how much one can redeem during a specific period.

This will ensure there’s no sudden mad rush to withdraw.

Of course, different fund houses will come up with different approaches.

*Selling pressure in Small and Midcap stocks*
observations only by @AlliesFin

SEBI has asked Mutual Funds for disclosure of risk measures taken by them, in case of market correction. It appears huge investment has been done by MF (almost to the tune of 100%) in Small and Midcap Funds, obviously due to huge flow of money from investors. Some MFs have stopped accepting lumpsum investment into Small and Midcap funds. There is no restriction on MFs to invest in these funds. They need not keep cash. However steep rally has caused concern as to how these funds will cope up in case of market crash.

GS || PLI Tracker: Latest progress update shows delays and shortfalls

As a push for the “#MakeinIndia” (#MII) initiative, the Government of #India proposed Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for 14 sectors during FY21, at a proposed incentive outlay of $33bn (or Rs2,640bn) over the next 5-6 years (equivalent to 1.4% ofFY22 government expenditure).

The government estimates that this boost to capex around the country under the PLI program has the potential to create ~1.5mn direct and~5mn indirect jobs — implying ~6% incremental manufacturing jobs and 1.2% incremental jobs in the entire economy.

We conducted a deep-dive analysis on each #PLI in a series of 3 reports earlier this year where we concluded that if fully implemented, PLI schemes’ direct impact on the trade deficit (~6% lower), incremental revenue (US$455bn), incremental capex (US$58bn, 21% of #BSE500 private #capex), and annual credit (US$23bn, 6% higher industrial credit) could be meaningful — with upside from ‘second order’ impact from component ecosystem capex, infrastructure build, and higher employment.

Above are the latest updates of the PLI scheme and ‘Make in India’ initiative.

- Stocks rose on Friday after December’s revised inflation reading came in lower than first reported and the S&P 500 closed above 5,000 for the first time on Friday, with the Nasdaq briefly trading above 16,000, driven by gains in megacaps and chip stocks like Nvidia amid optimism about artificial intelligence (AI) technology and strong earnings data and also optimism about potential rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, bolstering corporate profit outlooks.

- For the week, the S&P added 1.4%, while the Nasdaq gained 2.3%. The Dow finished flat. All three major averages notched their fifth straight winning week and 14th positive week in 15.

- A solid earnings season, easing inflation data and a resilient economy have charged 2024′s market rally. It’s also propelled the S&P to close above the 5,000 level after first touching the milestone during Thursday’s session. The index first crossed 4,000 in April 2021.

- A revision lower in December’s consumer price index also helped sentiment. The government adjusted the figure to a 0.2% increase, down from a 0.3% increase initially reported. Core inflation figures, excluding food and energy, were the same. January’s CPI figures are due out next week.

- Nvidia surged 3.6% to a record high after reports of building a new business unit focused on designing chips for cloud computing firms and advanced AI processors.

- The technology sector, including Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet, contributed to index gains alongside the outperformance of the Philadelphia semiconductor index, which rose nearly 2%.
