1600 Point #Nifty Rally,
As indicated earlier, indices have started making a history trading into new life high zone. We continue to remain hopeful of the same sustaining and the rally getting broadbased with more stocks joining the rally. Global markets may also be preparing to greet Santa with much anticipated 'Santa rally'.

Continue to maintain longs with trailing stop loss for December series. Hoping for strong comeback in small cap names as index has long way to go before it also joins life high party.

US stocks staged a late day rally ahead of Thanksgiving holiday post release of FED meet minutes that showed officials ready to consider slower pace of rate hikes. Dow closed 0.28% higher, S&P added 0.59% and Nasdaq gained 0.99%.

USD index came off sharply to trade near 106.15, 10 year also fell near 3.69% and cboe vix closed near multi-month low of 20.35.

Crude futures fell almost 3.50% to multi-month low as G7 considered price cap for Russian oil above current price. Chinese covid worries and higher than anticipated US stock piles also added to worries over crude prices, WTI fell to 77, Brent near 84.

Indian stocks closed modestly higher on penultimate day of November expiry led by BFSI names. Nifty closed near 18267 and Sensex added 91 points at close in a dull trade on Wednesday. Metal names along with BFSI stocks offset losses in IT names to take indices modestly higher at close.

*Improving global factors like fall in crude prices / USD index /treasury yields / volatility index along with positive sentiments may augur well for stocks to gain some more ground at Dalal Street. Participants may watch out for November series expiry blues for today and also focus on broadening of market breath over next few weeks. Participants may also await start of Santa rally, historically December trades are dominated by calendar end rallies with lower participation due to Xmas holidays. Continue to maintain trailing stops for upcoming period that has traditionally helped bulls to consolidate some leads by end of year.*

A very nice article written by an stock analysts

Should You Quit Your Job to Trade in Stocks

I have had many readers through the years and students of my trading course –most of whom were less-experienced traders–tell me that at some point in the future they planned to quit their 9-5 jobs and become a full-time trader. Traders who have recently entered market and made good money also plan to become a full time trader. While their optimism was certainly positive from the standpoint of eagerness to learn about a truly fascinating business, it is also probably unrealistic that they will ever make a good living as a full-time trader.

Many people think of taking full-time Trading to escape from the issues they are facing in their office. Quitting their job, work from anywhere with a laptop, no boss, and no politics looks like a dream job for many people. But the reality is different.

So, can a person make his living through full-time Trading?

The straightforward answer to this question is – YES, it is possible to make a living through full-time Trading. But it is not easy, and it demands more focus, discipline, and emotional control behavior.

Readers who are reading this article should answer the below few questions honestly and diligently that may help determine if you are ready to attempt to join the elusive rank of “full-time” trader.

Questions to ask yourself if you think you might be ready to trade futures full-time:

Are you a successful part-time trader?
You’ll need to be successful at trading on a part-time basis before you think about moving into the full-time trader ranks. Don’t be fooled into thinking that trading futures on a full-time basis will allow you to spend more time to cure your part-time trading ailments. In other words, don’t say to yourself: “If only I could spend more time trading markets, I could have more success than I’ve had just trading ‘one-lots’ here and there.”

Do you have enough money available to live on when (yes when, not if) you hit a streak of losing trades?
A losing streak will inevitably occur–and probably sooner rather than later. And I don’t mean a losing streak of two weeks, but think of worst case scenario what if you bust your whole trading account. Will you be able to survive the bad period without disturbing your family life ?

Do you have the psychological stamina to be a full-time trader?
Quite frankly, most people do not. Can your psyche handle six months of mostly losing trades?

Will your immediate family members support you–even during a prolonged rough stretch of trading?
Believe it or not, this is a very, very important question. For example, if your spouse does not support your decision to trade full-time, then you are likely doomed to failure. The pressure of having to produce winning trades and knowing that your spouse is skeptical of your efforts is almost insurmountable.

Will you be able to uphold your family or other important responsibilities even during a rough trading stretch?
Do you have enough reserve cash to sustain in losing streak. Can you move out of your luxurious lifestyle when you hit a losing streak. Do you have patience to hold on to the trade for 10 days ?

If you have Yes as answer with proper reasons/justification than think of becoming a full time trader, if not do not risk your personal and financial life.

One more thing: I do have many students that are “full-time traders” but who do fall into a different category than what I described above. These are people who do have enough money to trade on a full-time basis–even if their trading profits alone will not support their lifestyles. These are individuals who already have significant amounts of money derived from means other than trading futures. Also, I have many readers who are now full-time traders, and that have retired from another profession and want to spend the “autumn of their lives” not in a rocking chair, but in a field that is challenging to them. Again, they, too, have other means of income besides just futures trading profits.

US stocks closed lower as yields jumped on FED officials' signal that their campaign on rates are far from over. Stocks fell sharply at open but recovered large part of intraday loss. Dow closed just below flat line recovering from intraday low of more than 300 points, both S&P and Nasdaq closed 0.31% and 0.35% lower recovering from intraday cuts of almost 1.00% +.

USD index traded flat near 106.70, 10 year jumped near 3.76% and Cboe Vix declined below 24.

Crude futures declined almost 3.00% as China fears and aggressive FED rates hike fears took benchmark sharply lower, WTI fell near 82, Brent near 90.

Indian stocks fell on Thursday on global cues and weekly options expiry. IT names lost the most on cues from Nasdaq along with FMCG heavyweights but on the flip side capital goods names and RIL tried to give some support to markets. Both Sensex and Nifty closed almost 0.35% lower.

Markets may take cues from global factors and consolidate for one more day, rising US yields and fears of aggressive tightening may lead markets lower but falling crude and improving Indian macros may help Indian markets at lower levels. Participants may use weakness to buy into names that are more domestic focussed / offering value due to deep correction for long term investment.

Market Updates

Telegram.me/AlliesFin

US stocks moved higher on Tuesday after slow rise in PPI lifted hopes of inflationary pressure easing. Markets also drew some hope from US-China talks at Bali. Dow closed just above flat line, S&P added 0.87% and Nasdaq closed 1.45% higher.

USD index traded near 106.56, 10 year moved lower after PPI data to 3.77% and cboe vix closed higher near 24.54.

Crude futures traded higher after oil supply to Hungary was temporarily suspended, WTI moved above 86, Brent moved towards 94.

Indian stocks closed higher amidst choppy trade on Tuesday. Indices moved in a narrow range for most part of the day with small downward bias but saw a sharp move higher towards the close on some buying. Nifty topped 18400 and Sensex closed almost 250 points higher towards the end of trade.

Markets may continue to consolidate below life high zone with individual names offering strong trading opportunities. Cooling inflation expectations along with improving macros may help markets scale past life high zone in coming days. Use givebacks, if any, to built on portfolios for life beyond 18600, also trail stops for near term trading positions for any eventuality.

Market update 15 oct 22

Telegram.me/AlliesFin

US stocks took a pause after a strong rally as markets struggled to take a direction. Dow lost 0.63%, S&P gave up 0.89% and Nasdaq closed 1.12% lower.

USD index traded in a narrow range with a small positive bias near 106.89, 10 year moved marginally higher near 3.86% and cboe vix closed up at 23.73.

Crude futures lost ground on Monday on reports of surging covid cases in China, WTI dropped $3 to trade near 85, Brent fell below 93.

Indian stocks closed lower amid volatility as markets took a breather post strong rally of previous trading session. FMCG stocks along with some weakness in BFSI names took indices lower but on the flip side Metal and Realty names moved higher to give some support to markets. At close, Nifty lost 11 points and Sensex gave back 170 points.

*Markets may continue to consolidate just below life highs as global cues turn mixed. Stocks may continue to offer rotational bias and participants may use quick entry / exit opportunities that come up during the final consolidation phase pre-life beyond uncharted territory. With Q2 results season coming to an end investors may complete the portfolio rebalancing for next bull charge once indices take life highs out.*

Indian equity benchmarks finished a choppy session in the red on Monday, even as global markets mostly continued to rise after a US inflation last week rekindled hopes of a moderation in COVID-era hikes in interest rates. Selling pressure in in FMCG, oil & gas and financial shares pulled the headline indices lower, though gains in IT and metal stocks lent some support.

Gainers: Metal, Realty, Commodities, IT, Healthcare, Teck, Auto, Oil & Gas.

'Pause'

Telegram.me/AlliesFin

We are racing to get ahead of others. We eat fast, work fast and are reluctant to slow down for anything. Impatience, restlessness, and loss of emotional control take a toll on whatever we think, feel and do.

To hit the pause button enables us to get the much-needed breathing space that is only ours.

'Practice the Pause' is a famous life quote used by Lori Deschene, An American author.

It simply means a learned skill, where you take a break, stop or cease to react, speak or act.

Lori recommends
Pause before judging,
Pause before assuming,
Pause before accusing.
Pause whenever you're about to react harshly& you'll avoid doing and saying things you'll regret later.

Do not react to the various events in your life automatically, rather stop for some time and think about the situation, before responding to it.

'Practice the Pause' is a lifelong good habit for our ultimate well being. Just pause for some time and be with the present moment.

For me, the two areas where I need to practise the pause is

A) The anger pause:
We need to stop our instant and knee jerk response to the various stimuli that we come across. Example – irritation and rage during a traffic snarl which makes us restless.

Connect to your wiser self by learning to cease, understand and then act.

This pause needs to be taken to control your anger. You become angry when you do not get the desired response which you think is right. Anger demands immediate catharsis of our negative emotions. Reacting to what is said to us without thinking about the bad effects of it needs to be stopped.

Anger impacts your relationships so it is desirable to practice the pause to maintain a healthy connection.

A little pause helps you to analyze the situation logically and assertively. It ensures peaceful negotiations of issues.

Take time out before reacting harshly so that you need not repent later.
When you pause in an angry situation, you develop the ability to master your emotions and do not let your anger overcome you.

B) the Doubt pause
A doubtful person can neither be comfortable with themselves nor with others. It is necessary to take a pause or cease your feelings and actions temporarily when you feel doubtful.

It gives you a chance to look into the situation more clearly and then respond to it. You can use your past experiences and learning to analyze the reasons for your doubt.

The pause enables you to find out the unawareness about the situation or the self.
A break or pause helps to evaluate your intentions and emotions that surround it.

Taking a pause also helps to quieten the thoughts and reflect on what lies under the triggers.

Practise the pause, start, the week n mid month with this & stay blessed forever.

Market Updates for 11 11 22

Telegram.me/AlliesFin

US markets staged a monster rally as lighter than expected inflation print helped bulls to take charge and lift indices to post best single day gains in nearly two years (as indicated, global markets, especially Nasdaq, were trading in an oversold zone and a powerful counter trade rally was overdue). Dow gained 3.70%, S&P added 5.54% and Nasdaq jumped a whopping 7.35% on Thursday.

USD index dropped sharply below 108, 10 year also saw big cuts towards 3.81% and cboe vix closed below 23.50.

Crude futures also gained some ground taking cues from equity markets, WTI moved above 86, Brent above 93.

Indian stocks lost some ground as weekly options expiry and global equity sentiments took stocks lower. Autos and Banking stocks traded lower on some profit taking. Nifty dropped below 18050 and Sensex lost 420 points.

*Strong global cues along with continued FII flows may once again propel Indian indices to take a step forward towards life high zone. Watch for a strong recovery in oversold names especially in IT stocks which is overdue (as indicated earlier 2023 may see IT / Pharma stocks take a lead to outperform the markets). Participants may gradually build short term portfolio tilted towards indicated sectors to create alpha over near term (not ignoring other sectors that may also participate, albeit at a slower pace, once indices take out life highs). Continue to trail stops for near term positions and position portfolios for the bull charge post life highs.*

Indian equity benchmarks ended lower amid losses across sectors. Globally, investors remained on the back foot as they awaited a key inflation reading from the world's largest economy due later in the day to gauge the possible course of revisions in COVID-era interest rates.

Market Update for 10 Oct 22
Telegram.me/AlliesFin

Wall Street slid on Wednesday post mid term election results that showed a mixed verdict and investors' focus turned towards inflation concerns. Dow fell 1.95%, S&P dropped 2.08% and Nasdaq closed 2.48% lower ending three day's winning streak.

USD index moved higher near 110.43, 10 year dropped below 4.10% and Cboe Vix closed above 26.

Crude futures continued to slide on China worries and increase in US stockpiles. WTI fell below 86, Brent slipped below 93.

Indian stocks cooled off after hitting 9 month highs awaiting US mid term elections outcome and inflation data. Both Nifty and Sensex closed 0.25% down as Metals, Autos and FMCG names lost some ground but on flip side PSU banks continued its dream run higher. Mid and Small cap names showed some profit taking underperforming main indices.

Stocks may continue to consolidate (as indicated yesterday, indices may need some consolidation before they take on life highs). Sector rotation may continue to help participants genrate some alpha even if markets consolidate for a while. Investors may realign portfolios for upcoming bull charge using current phase of consolidation.
